If you want to be right on the beach
Only a few buildings are genuinely on the seafront: Casablanca, right on the front line of Playa Romana with sea views; Marino, with direct access to the Las Fuentes promenade; Jardines del Puerto, next to the marina; and, effectively, Ibiza, on the Cargador seafront promenade. If you're travelling with children
Look for a children's pool and a beach nearby: Al Andalus, Marino, Marino Superior, Arcos I and II, Jardines del Puerto and Marcomar all have an adults' pool and a separate children's pool. Arcos II also has fenced grounds. For more pool ideas, see apartments with a pool in Alcossebre.
If someone has reduced mobility or you're travelling without a car
Two buildings have a lift: Bovalar, central and a few minutes from Cargador, and Mare Nostrum, right in the centre. Both let you get around on foot. If that's you, here's more information on the Bovalar apartments with a lift. Marino has no lift, but it does have ground-floor units.
If you're a group or a large family
For 7 or 8 people: Mare Nostrum (3 bedrooms, up to 8, in the centre), Marcomar (3 bedrooms, up to 8, by the Serra d'Irta), Casablanca (3 bedrooms, up to 7, on the seafront) or one of the Villas Sunset (3 bedrooms, 5 to 7). Bear in mind that Casa Azahar doesn't let buildings such as Mare Nostrum or the Villas Sunset to groups of young people.
If you want something compact and simple
Studios are the most compact option: Arcos II (studios for up to 4, in Las Fuentes), Arcos I (from studios up, with mini golf) and Fuente Sol (studio and one-bedroom, near the marina). In the centre, El Rocío offers simple apartments without a pool.
If the car matters to you
Madeira and Jardines del Puerto have free parking; Al Andalus has paid parking; the Villas Sunset have open-air parking. In the centre, the practical thing is to leave the car and get about on foot.
If you're coming for the nature
Marcomar sits at the foot of the Serra d'Irta, ideal for hiking and mountain biking, and Madeira is close to the coves and the lighthouse.
